Acting under a Delegated Authority
Where we have an agreed delegated authority on behalf of a commercial insurer to deal with claims, this means that when a claim is notified, we are appointed by the insurer to investigate and determine policy cover and usually, also to represent the insurer’s policyholder in the defence of a claim or investigation subject to policy cover being confirmed.
The relevant specialist legal team will conduct the claim and in doing so, investigate and determine policy cover, working with the policyholder client, their insurers, and brokers to effectively conclude this process.
Whilst policy cover is being investigated, we can take any necessary steps in the claim itself pending a decision. If policy cover is confirmed, our specialist team of lawyers will (where engaged to do so) continue to represent the policyholder towards a successful and/or the most suitable outcome.
