Meet the Team – Heather Brown
Updated: Feb 17

Welcome to the fifth in our series of team interviews. Each month, we’ll be asking a member of our team to tell us more about them and their involvement with rradar. This month, it’s time to hear about HR Administrator, Heather Brown.
How and when did you first become involved with rradar?
I first became involved with rradar in 2014 when I started out as an Administration Apprentice.
Who/what was the biggest influence on your decision to work at rradar?
When I finished my A level in Law, I knew this was the area I wanted to pursue a career in so I actively started seeking a job within a law firm. Opportunities were really hard to come by so I decided I would apply for an apprenticeship and ‘earn while I learn’. When the opportunity came along at rradar, I jumped at the chance.
What was your first impression of the company?
That it was a really friendly, warm and supportive environment.
What have you found to be the most surprising/challenging aspect of working for rradar?
The most surprising aspect of rradar for me was how much of a growth opportunity they give employees. You are given responsibility and the chance to better yourself constantly and you really do feel like they trust you to do the best work you can at all times and as such… people do! The environment is very fast paced and sometimes that can be challenging but equally exciting.
What would you tell someone who is thinking about working for rradar?
Absolutely go for it. It may be the best decision you ever make; it was for me!
How do you see rradar developing over the next five years?
The way we are going, it looks like we could take over the world!
If you weren’t working for rradar, what would you be doing instead?
I would probably still be riding horses for a living! Previous to my role at rradar, I was a riding instructor.
How would someone describe you?
Loyal, strong-minded, dependable. I would do anything for anyone.
Surprise us with a little-known fact about you and your profession.
I’m now in a HR role and it may surprise people to know I’m still a nice person! The word ‘HR’ can bring bad connotations but I’m really here to support and help people develop and be the best they can be and just generally make sure we are a nice place to work. A little fact about me is I’m very athletic. In school, I was the 3rd fastest girl in the county and always represented my school at athletic events. I was particularly good over 800m and 100m sprints.
What inspires you that you think other people should know?
The inspirational quote I live by is ‘have courage and be kind’. I really believe a little bit of courage and kindness can get you anywhere.
What do you do when you aren’t working?
Riding my horse! Quite literally if I’m not at work you will find me down at the stables. I enjoy competing at the weekends and going out for meals and spending time with my family and friends. I also love a bit of Bingo! (Sad, I know).
You’re on a desert island and you can take one album, one book and one film with you. What do you take?
Album – I would probably take Now 62. I love all the cheesy old songs from my childhood discos!!
Book – it’s very hard. I love reading. I would probably have to take To Kill a Mockingbird or one of Gillian Flynn’s books. I really like Sharp Objects and Dark Places. I find Crime Thrillers really interesting.
For film, I would take Cinderella. It’s my all-time favourite film and I love it.
