Updated: Feb 16

Multi-award winning law firm rradar will have a significant presence at Leeds Business Week on Wednesday 11th October.
Denise Dowen, Andrew Cameron and Mark Smith will be delivering presentations on data protection and surveillance, and the disruptive power of technology in helping reduce legal costs.
In addition, the rradar team will be taking an exhibition stand at Aspire/Main Hall, where our staff will be on hand to answer any questions about the innovative and mould-breaking legal services provided to business of all sizes.
At 11am, Denise Dowen, rradar’s Legal Services Innovation Manager will be presenting a seminar on the forthcoming General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and its effect on surveillance in the workplace.
She’ll be asking whether covert surveillance of employees is ever justifiable. Examining the legal controls under the GDPR, she’ll address the issues that SMEs need to consider when looking into surveillance measures, helping them to strike the right balance between the privacy of their workers and their commercial interests.
Denise’s presentation will give businesses key insights and legal tips which will enable them to ensure they’re legally compliant when monitoring employees and processing their personal data. They’ll learn about legal controls on location tracking and remote monitoring, the protection of intellectual property and company property, updating contracts and how to handle data retention.
At 2pm, Andrew Cameron, rradar’s Chief Legal Officer and Mark Smith, rradar’s IT Director will present their seminar on how the digital revolution is helping to transform SME access to legal services. The seminar will show that SMEs can use the new legal technology to gain commercial and competitive advantages in their sectors, particularly when it comes to legal disputes.
Andrew and Mark will demystify the sometimes complex world of IT and digital, showing what a legal service that puts the client at its heart will look like. They’ll outline the ways in which SMEs that wholeheartedly embrace the opportunities that digital has to offer will reap the benefits by managing legal risks to their businesses while simultaneously reducing their legal costs.
During this seminar, you’ll find out how contractual relationships will be transformed by the power of digital, how automation will reduce costs, what is meant by data analytics, blockchain and AI and the role of the lawyer as we move into what’s becoming known as the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
Make sure you get the opportunity to listen to Mark, Denise and Andrew speak by booking your place at this event as soon as possible. You’ll also get the chance to meet and talk to the rradar team at our stand and find out more about our exciting plans for the future of law, including online tools, systems, training and other resources.
