Trekfest – The Peaks

Updated: Feb 17

It’s summer and the rradar workforce is feeling fit and healthy! To show just how fit and healthy, members of staff will be embarking on Trekfest 2015, taking on the challenge of The Peaks. Eight members of the rradar team will be setting out on 5th September 2015, taking in the stunning scenery of one of Britain’s most inspiring national parks.

As a team, we have decided on 13 miles in 6 hours. It’s going to be a challenge for us as we spend most of our working days sitting in front of computer screens. The only things we exercise are our minds.

The route will take us on a journey of natural beauty, starting at the Trekfest Village and winding its way along an impressive network of footpaths and bridleways, beginning and ending in the heart of Hope Valley.

Why we have chosen to take part in Trekfest 2015

Rradar as a company is all about education, communication and community. This cascades through to our staff and company ethos. We’re not just doing this to raise money for charity but to show our team spirit and the values of the rradar community.

Richard Stuttle said

“I love being outdoors and there is nothing better than walking in inspiring parts of the UK. I love a challenge as it’s something that I’ve never done before. rradar is our community and we have a great team who I consider to be friends as well as colleagues. I can think of nothing better than to spend a Saturday afternoon raising money for a charity that is close to my heart.”

Our chosen charities

We are raising money for Caroline’s Rainbow Foundation. and the Down’s Syndrome Association

Caroline’s Rainbow Foundation is a locally-based charity started out of tragedy to support backpackers and travellers, helping them to explore the world in a safer environment. The charity was set up after the tragic death of Caroline Stuttle on her gap year in Australia in 2002.

The charity supports anyone travelling at home or abroad with information, travel safety tips and techniques in order for them to understand the risks and dangers that travellers face.

In 2012, the charity celebrated its 10th anniversary and launched their Safer Travel App for iPhone and iPad. The App boasts comprehensive travel information for over 300 cities worldwide, detailing important information that anyone would need when visiting a new or unfamiliar city. The Safer Travel App is free to download from the App Store.

The Down’s Syndrome Association – Our aim is to create the conditions that all people with Down’s syndrome need to live full and rewarding lives. We are the only organisation in this country focusing solely on all aspects of living successfully with Down’s syndrome. Since 1970, we have grown from being a local parent support group into a national charity with over 20,000 members, a national office in Teddington, Middlesex and an office in Northern Ireland. Despite this, the organisation is run by a total staff of 36 (many of them part time). We also work closely with over 130 local support groups throughout the UK.

Everyone at rradar is really excited about taking up The Peaks challenge. If you would like to show your support, please visit our Just Giving page and spur us on to finish the course in a record time!
